ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (WJZ)– A Laurel man convicted of the July 2012 shooting of his estranged girlfriend and a man at an Ellicott City nail salon was sentenced to 65 1/2 years in prison Tuesday.
Earlier this fall, Tuan Minh Pham, 37, was found guilty of attempted murder and additional charges in the attack on Lan Hoang Mai Phan and Phuong Thanh Do at the Nail and Hair Care Spa at the Shipley’s Grant shopping center in Howard County.
Pham went to Virginia immediately after the shootings and eluded authorities for eight months before turning himself in at police headquarters in Ellicott City in March.
A Howard County jury convicted Pham of attempted first-degree murder of his former girlfriend, Phan. The pair had two daughters.
Pham also was convicted of attempted second-degree murder of Do, the brother of Tommy Do who was in a relationship with Phan at the time of the shooting. Do sustained four gunshot wounds in a confrontation that took place both inside and outside the nail salon and recorded on the salon’s video surveillance system. Phan was shot once in the shoulder, inside the salon.
Both victims were taken to Shock Trauma and survived the shootings.
